These are my pattern cutting hunnies that help me when I want to bring an idea to life! I like commercial sewing patterns but it’s so cool when you imagine something and make it happen! Ideas come from anywhere- the street, old movies, the runway, Instagram and even dreams. Some ideas are more challenging than others, I am always learning. The best thing is I am free from retail sizing. I cut to fit my figure- that way it always comes in my size! 😜 Now I’m off to practice something new!😀 Like I said, always learning…. I finally made Vogue 1560, designed by Edith Head, Oscar winning Hollywood costumier. I used the tiniest bit of satin I had in my stash and you wouldn’t believe the shenanigans I had to pull to get the pattern pieces to fit! Do you own any vintage patterns designed by any designers not really associated with sewing patterns?

I call this my seaside dress! I have a weird, endearing (or annoying) habit of buying fabric whenever I can. I found this cotton fabric with an Ankara style print while I was on a lovely trip to the seaside. I designed this to have a classic v-neck front and back with a wide a-line skirt. Whenever I wear this I’m reminded of a beautiful sunny happy day. Tell me if you have garments that spark memories!🥰
